Pre-1750 Residence Localities

At present, records indicate a Rothenhöfer family(ies) in the vicinity of Nürnberg in the early to mid-1600s. A Rothenhöfer individual also lives in Steinbach, located near Baden-Baden, during this same period. Between about 1660 and 1750, Rothenhöfer families are known to reside in Biberach (at Heilbronn) and Rappenau, Brötzingen (at Pforzheim), Güntersleben (near Würzberg), Heppenheim , Karlsruhe, Massenbach, and Stuttgart. Currently, connections between these lineages, families, or individuals are not well understood.

As a starting place, we have or will include brief narratives listing data or commenting on the information we have about Rothenhöfers in pre-1750 locations. We have more information on some places than others. We hope to correct this over time. Presently we are hampered by the non-availability in the U.S. of German parish records on microfilm. Additional research in Germany likely will necessary.
